Temporary Hand Wash Station
Typical circumstances when temporary hand wash stations may be used include:
Emergency conditions caused by water supply or plumbing failures.
Outdoor recreational activities or mass gatherings that may involve soiling of hands from animals, the environment or other contaminants.
Temporary food handling activities associated with special event activities.
Special Event Food Service
Frequent and thorough hand washing is the first line of defense in the prevention of food borne disease when handling foods. The provision of adequate hand washing facilities is required for all special event food handling activities. The use of disposable gloves provides an additional barrier to food contamination but is not a substitute for hand washing. Pre-packaged cleaning towelettes and hand sanitizing gels have limited ability to substitute for hand washing applicable to food handling situations.
Special event temporary hand washing requires planning for removal of waste water generated by hand washing activities and replenishment of the water.
